School pill runs – Herald Sun

TEACHERS are taking students as young as 13 to get the “morning after” pill without parents being told. A Sunday Herald Sun investigation found teenage girls are being taken to family planning “action centres” by teachers and counsellors. – It might be worth a quick click on their online poll and voting “no” will send a message that parents should be informed about these things by the school.

  1. Most schools have government doctors (not the sickbay nurse) therefore the doctor and patient confidentiality applies so if they don’t want parent’s contacted then they have to abide by those wishes. However I’m not saying I agree with it, half of these girls AND BOYS aren’t old enough to make such important decisions by themself. Our school had a government nurse who could provide proper pregnancy tests that got sent into Ipswich and the results would be picked up by her in the next 2 or 3 days and she had all sorts of other stuff available for students, which I think is a good resource for students but when its 13 year olds… thats just ridiculous! The morning after pill shouldn’t be given to girls as young as 13 and 14 15 even because thats just ridiculous them having sex at that age. I’m nearly 18 and I haven’t even had sex geeze! I’m on a full rant now buddy :D It all comes down to better sex education in schools and institutes. My sex education consisted of a talk from a nurse in year 7 who showed a video about how the two bunnies went bowling then went back to some house and rolled around under the covers and then she popped out 7 rabbits or something… Protection was barely discussed. So when it comes down to it perhaps if there was better sex education in schools about sex, protection and sti’s then perhaps this problem with the morning after pill would be reduced!

Ok I’ve had my say :-) See I’m so smart hence why I’m at uni!
